Our Mission
At Wildwood Expedition, we are dedicated to empowering service members and first responders by providing transformative outdoor experiences. Like the resilient wildwood—a rare hardwood that thrives in the toughest environments—our participants find strength and renewal through the power of nature. Our expeditions offer a transformative environment where veterans and first responders can rediscover purpose, build resilience, and heal alongside others who understand their journey.
Why it's need
Our heroes often return home with wounds that can’t be seen. Veterans and first responders face unique challenges, including PTSD, depression, anxiety, and feelings of isolation.
Veterans and PTSD: An estimated 11-20% of veterans who served in Iraq and Afghanistan experience PTSD each year.
First Responders at Risk: First responders are at higher risk for PTSD and suicide, with 1 in 3 experiencing some form of mental health challenge.
Nature as Therapy: Studies show that time in nature reduces stress, improves mood, and enhances mental well-being. Immersing participants in outdoor environments provides a natural path to healing.
